VOLTRON:
Another Brian Yuzna cinematic abortions, don't get me wrong. The man has made some decent movies in his life time, the Re-Animator
movies are all good. But most of the man's movie suck on ice Rottweiler and Dagon are two prime examples and BENEATH STILL
WATERS falls under this category I'm afraid. In 1965 a dam was built which completely flooded a small town. Now years after
the event they discover the townspeople left an evil cult behind to die in the rising water.
Now they're after revenge, yada yada yada. The basic concept is good, the creature effects could have been better and
more of it. But what really makes this movie a really pile of trash is the climax, that's right, the climax. It's something
we here at ZEDD'S HOMEPAGE like to call "THE OTHER SHOE" ending. When you think all is well, they drop the other
shoe and a happy ending turns into a bad ending.
The hero kills all the bad monsters and saves the town just in the nick of time, then this kid's eyes glows and he says
something and the dam breaks anyway. What was the point of that? It's bad enough some Producers and writers do the other
shoe to leave a movie open, but there's with the dam destroyed only makes sure there's no sequel. Sometimes I think directors
like Brian Yuzna worship the devil, unless the book ended like that, which I doubt. BENEATH STILL WATERS should have been
STILL BORN. We both give this diaster crapper THE NOOSE!
